Protective Parent

Kara Gates is a full-time respiratory therapist/healthcare specialist from Pennsylvania.

She has 2 sons ages 17 and 13 with two different fathers. Kara had full custody of both boys all their until just 2019. 

She is a survivor/witness to Overcoming Barriers “reunification camp” in 2019 in Starksboro,  VT, along with her oldest son.  They were forced/threaten to attend OCB camp so that her son could “reunify” with his abusive father after her son had disclosed alleged sexual & physical abuse when he was 12 and went through a forensic interview.

The fathers of her sons teamed up together, hiring & paying for the same psychologist (also under the judges direction & order after their attorney requested it).  The fathers had the same attorney &  all custody evidentiary hearings were held simultaneously with both fathers in courtroom sitting together w/ attorney against her.  Kara was not permitted to have an advocate or child advocate in courtroom for any hearing.

After the OCB camp her oldest son was removed from her care for the 90 days no contact.  That turned into a longer period of time until a court date when custody was switched to her sons abusive father who lives in another state.

Kara's  boys have been separated ever since.  The judge also awarded her youngest sons father full custody based on the psychologists report & basis of parental alienation
